| 2 | and he is the propitiation for our sins; but not for ours alone, but also for the whole world. | And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world. |

| 2 | Beloved, now are we children of God, and what we shall be has not yet been manifested; we know that if it is manifested we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. | Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. |
